Description

Connect source code, infrastructure, and deployment in a pipeline you can understand from end to end. This course teaches Azure DevOps CI/CD through practical demonstrations, with a YAML-focused path covering web applications, databases, containers, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code.

Build a modern YAML pipeline foundation

Start with Azure DevOps architecture and the relationship between stages, jobs, steps, and dependencies. Then follow increasingly complete pipeline examples so you can see how individual tasks become an application-delivery workflow rather than a collection of disconnected commands.

What you will explore

  • Create and run YAML pipelines for Azure Container Apps and Kubernetes applications.

  • Build complete web-application and database pipelines, then bring infrastructure deployment into the workflow.

  • Deploy Bicep templates, including multistage examples, and automate Terraform with state-handling considerations.

  • Explore NuGet package workflows, YAML templates, variable groups, pipeline chaining, and matrix strategies.

  • Compare self-hosted agent setups on virtual machines, scale sets, Docker, and Kubernetes, including KEDA-based scaling.

  • Configure Managed DevOps Pools and use them from Azure DevOps.

  • Understand authentication with service principals, managed identities, and Workload Identity federation with OIDC.

  • Explore Azure DevOps CLI, Kubernetes YAML analysis with KubeLinter, and Microsoft Defender for DevOps.

  • Connect related tooling through Argo CD examples, GitHub Actions triggers, and the Terraform provider for Azure DevOps.

Understand classic pipelines in context

A separate set of Designer-based examples covers Java, .NET Core, SQL Server databases, ARM templates, Kubernetes, and Xamarin applications. These modules provide context for existing classic pipelines and include SonarCloud, WhiteSource Bolt, Key Vault, and pull-request validation examples. If you are starting with pipeline authoring, follow the YAML modules first; the classic examples reflect the tooling used in their recordings.

Who this course is for

Developers, DevOps engineers, and Azure practitioners who want to automate application delivery will benefit from this course. Familiarity with Git and application development will help, while Azure and container knowledge are useful for the deployment-focused modules.

Use the demonstrations to understand how pipeline structure, execution agents, authentication, and deployment targets fit together. Build a practical foundation for reading existing pipelines, adapting examples to your projects, and organizing more complete delivery workflows.
